9:18 pm - And off we go!
Darkness passed its ultimate test. My cousin, and co-creator of the story, did actually like what I have. She pointed out some things that need to be expanded on.

Had she not liked it, no one else's opinion would have mattered. If the co-creator doesn't give the okay, then the story dies, because its just as much her baby as it is mine.

But I am ecstatic! And back to editing! I put all of the chapters into a folder called "old" and have started a new word document and am starting with chapter one. I'll go chapter by chapter up until I hit the areas where it needed more depth put into it, and then the real editing will finally start getting done. When I feel satisfied entirely with the added portions, then I'll go back to going through it chapter by chapter until once again I find myself at one of those gaps. It's going to be long, it's going to be frustrating, it's going to be tough. But Darkness is one step closer to breathing its own life.

And I thank all of my friends involved in helping me look for what needs to be edited. I appreciate the help, so much, and I couldn't do this without your support. Thank you.

10:13 pm - Back to writing
I have been stuck in this horrible stage of writers block the last couple of months. I will write a bit of Darkness, and then delete it because I don't like how it sounds. Its been annoying me, actually.

But I've been reading the Twilight series, and something about the words on those pages, as I read through them, fill me with the ability to work again.

I have now gone from 57 pages to 62 pages single spaced in just one night of writing again. It's most goal to make 2008 the year I finished the first book and at least begin the long editing process. I am determined.

I am in the process of fiddling with my book list for Darkness. After thinking long about how things progress over time, I figured there were some things I should add in the earlier sections.

For instance, there are some characters that come up later in the series, and because we originally had not expected the story to go the way it did, we never mentioned the characters until we actually introduced them to the story. So one of my main goals to add in some of the characters into just basic scenes to get them ready for later, or to at least give mention to them (some characters can't actually be brought in until the actual moment they appear in the book, but that doesn't mean I can't make mention of them through conversations and thoughts.

I'm also considering what actually needs to be kept, and what I can cut out, which means a lot of rearranging of how the books will go. There is so much in this story, so it makes it hard when deciding, "gee, do we really need this?" because I have to think whether its going to be important later on. I can't cut something out if its going to be a huge thing later on, now can I? That wouldn't make a lot of sense.

Where I'm starting in the books already means a lot is left out, and many things will be left to memories from the characters. I had originally planned to start at the beginning when Jake comes into the picture, but.... heh... by the time I got to where we are now, where the big stuff is going on, there would be at least 30 books. -.-

I'm not writing that many. lol.

So, that's the latest writing news, brought to you by J. Rose.

11:24 pm - "Blue Satin"
I have decided to make general posts (the non-writing ones) to be open to link from my website for my writing.

Thinking ahead for if I ever get a fan base. haha.

I am taking a class over at Kent State right now for criminal profiling. It's only offered in the summer, but I wanted to take it so badly I decided to lose my normal, carefree summer to be in this class. And I'm glad I did. It's awesome.

Anyway, so when I come out of class, I generally have serial killers in my mind since we study them closely. As I was driving home, my mind started to wander, and Eiffel 65's "Blue" was playing on my CD player and an idea came to me.

I could easily picture it: a serial killer's personal signature left at the scenes where he's laid the bodies of young women down. They are decked out in blue, with blue satin dresses and high heels. He's done their makeup in blue, and painted their nails with shimmering blue nail polish. He strangles them with barbed wire, and then puts a blue satin ribbon around their neck, like a choker, to hide the marks. He makes them as beautiful as possible before he lays them peacefully in the woods.

It's different, and chilling. A great serial killer MO for a story.

And I can thank Eiffel 65 for that.
